Holidays in the Lake District

The Lake District was a favourite place of Beatrix Potter famous for writing the Peter Rabbit series of books. She bought land there and bred sheep. At the pretty and well preserved village of Hawkshead her paintings can be seen at the Beatrix Potter Gallery.
